    Highlights

Begin your day with a private sunrise or sunset yoga hike through Red Rock State Park, a 286-acre nature preserve where gentle trails wind along Oak Creek and climb to panoramic views of Sedona's most iconic red sandstone formations. Over three hours, your guide leads a mindful hike to a scenic clifftop or creekside meadow, then unrolls your mat for a restorative Hatha yoga and meditation session surrounded by the quiet energy of the park.

    1. Hike gentle, well-marked trails through Red Rock State Park with views of Cathedral Rock and the surrounding formations
    2. Practice traditional Hatha yoga, breathwork, and meditation on the earth beneath towering sandstone cliffs
    3. Walk through juniper woodlands and the lush riparian corridor along Oak Creek
    4. Work with an experienced guide who customizes the session for your group's level and interests
    5. Choose a sunrise session for soft morning light or sunset for golden hour color on the red rocks

Red Rock State Park feels a world apart from the busier trailheads in Sedona, and combining a private yoga practice with the stillness of these trails makes for one of the most grounding experiences in Red Rock Country.

    Perfect for

Red Rock State Park is one of Sedona's quieter treasures, a 286-acre nature preserve where Oak Creek cuts through a valley framed by the same rust-colored sandstone that draws millions of visitors to the area each year. Unlike the more crowded trailheads along Highway 179, Red Rock State Park feels protected and unhurried, with five miles of interconnecting loop trails that wind through juniper woodland, riparian corridors, and open meadows with unobstructed views of Cathedral Rock. It is exactly the kind of setting where a yoga practice makes sense, not as an add-on, but as the reason you came.

On this private yoga hike, your guide leads you into Red Rock State Park at sunrise or sunset, when the light paints the sandstone in shades of amber and copper. The trail moves at a pace designed for presence, not distance, with stops to take in the shifting colors, the sound of Oak Creek, and the birds that use the park's riparian habitat year-round. When the group reaches a clearing or clifftop, your guide rolls out mats and leads a Hatha yoga session that draws on the stillness of the landscape. Breathwork, gentle movement, and meditation flow together against a backdrop of formations that have been shaping themselves for millions of years. The session is accessible to all levels and tailored to your group, so there is no pressure to perform, only to be present.

This experience is ideal for couples, solo travelers, small groups, and anyone who wants to move beyond sightseeing and into something more personal during their time in Sedona. Combining a private yoga practice with the gentle trails of Red Rock State Park creates a morning or evening that stays with you long after you leave.

The guides here consistently create transformative experiences in Sedona's stunning landscape. Taylor, Minyan, Ethan, Christopher, and Dani each bring deep knowledge of the area's geology, flora, and spiritual significance while leading accessible yoga practices. Lance and Amber, who run the operation, are praised for their attentiveness and care in ensuring everything runs smoothly. Multiple reviewers mention being nervous about solo travel or group dynamics, but the small group sizes foster genuine connections that often become a highlight in themselves. The retreats focus on breathwork, mindfulness, and spiritual connection rather than fitness-driven yoga, which resonates deeply with participants seeking restoration over workout intensity. Groups typically range from six to ten people, creating an intimate atmosphere. The hikes accommodate various fitness levels with gentle to moderate trails leading to breathtaking vistas where yoga sessions take place beside streams, under ancient trees, or atop red rock formations. Solo travelers, friend groups, corporate teams, and mother-daughter pairs all report finding exactly what they needed. Many describe their experience as the best part of their Sedona visit, with several already planning return trips.

My daughter and I just returned from a five-day yoga retreat in Sedona, and it was a truly wonderful experience! This trip was a Christmas gift to my daughter, and since we haven’t had much time together in recent years, I thought it would be a special way to reconnect—and it absolutely was. Our group of eight (seven women and one man) was fantastic! Aside from my daughter and me, as well as two other women, everyone else attended solo, which made for a great mix of personalities and connections. The accommodations were good, though not exceptional. A smaller, more boutique-style hotel might have enhanced the retreat’s ambiance. The hotel did make an initial mistake with our room assignment, as well as with the two women traveling together, by not placing us in a suite as planned. Fortunately, we caught the error and were able to move. (A tip for future attendees: double-check that you're in the suite as listed in the itinerary.) Amber and Lance, the retreat owners and organizers, were quick to address the issue and made sure it was resolved—I'm pretty sure they gave the hotel a little well-deserved scolding! Our instructors, Taylor and Minyan, were both fantastic and knowledgeable, each bringing a unique perspective that complemented the retreat beautifully. The yoga itself wasn’t overly vigorous—it was more focused on breathwork and mindfulness, perfectly suited to the breathtaking Sedona landscape. Whether you’re a beginner or a more advanced practitioner, this retreat offers something meaningful. Beyond the yoga sessions, our group spent a lot of time together, forming strong connections that I hope will last beyond the retreat. It was an unforgettable experience, and I’m so grateful for the time spent with my daughter in such a peaceful, restorative setting.
